Security Concierge

Typical job description and responsibilities

You can expect to have many duties if you decide to become a Security Concierge. The job is a combination of customer service and security.

Security Concierge Duties and Responsibilities:

• You will be responsible for the security of your area

• Since you are posted at the front desk you may also have administrative duties such as answering telephones

• You may also be expected to monitor CCTV and other security alarm systems to ensure the building is safe

• From time to time you may also have to interact with the management team of the building to implement security strategies

• There will be assignments where you will control the door access and will have to remain alert so as not to leave guests waiting for too long to enter the building

Following training for this role, you will be equipped with the skills to:

• Managing deliveries and shipments

• Detect suspicious behavior

• Supervise and control access to your assigned location

• Effectively monitor alarm systems

Night Shift Security Officers are also responsible for:  

• Completing documentation

• Monitoring CCTV activity

• Providing customer/resident service when necessary

Working Conditions

This is a job that depends on your ability to deal with people. If you enjoy meeting new people and helping others this can be a great position for you. Even though most of your efforts will be on customer service, security is still the main priority. You can expect to be kept busy during your shifts and you’re expected to be courteous at all times. It’s a job that can become financially rewarding as you gain more experience.

A Security Concierge needs to be:

• Courteous to clients

• Physically fit

• A quick problem solver

• Able to communicate with the rest of the team in the event of an emergency

• Ability to understand and use the right security systems

• Knowledgeable of licensing laws and health and safety regulations

• Able to write reports

Education required

It's really important that your English skills are proficient for this role. Besides the fact that you will be interacting with many people during your shift it can help to set you apart from employers. You should remember that anyone who is allowed to work in the UK can take the SIA course to become licensed. Therefore having the right English language skills can be a great asset especially since this position requires a lot of communication with clients and coordination with your peers.
