The course runs over 6 consecutive days and is divided into 4 units and covers everything from the legal aspects of working in security to the latest physical intervention techniques. NEW SIA Course Update (April 2021) From April 1st this course will become a 6 day course instead of a 4 day course. In addition, you must have a first aid qualification before you can take the training. This should be an Emergency First Aid at work certificate or higher.

You can work as a Security Guard with a Door Supervisor Licence. In fact, the Door Supervisor Licence is one of the most versatile licences in the security industry. It's important to remember that if you instead take the Security Guard Course, for example, you can't apply for a Door Supervisor badge.
This makes the Door Supervisor Course more valuable when applying for jobs, and will make you more eligible for more work much faster.

Getting to your training venue in Norwich
Trains
Travelling to the venue at Best Western Brook Hotel in Norwich is super easy by train. Norwich has a large train station with trains arriving from all over the UK and the local area every minute of the day.

Travelling by train to the Best Western Brook Hotel takes not less than 17 minutes from any of the nearby stations. From Norwich Train Station, walk for about 3 minutes to the Prince of Wales Road (Stop DL). Catch the 24 network Norwich (Queens Hill) bus that passes every 20 minutes.
Get off the bus after 15 stops which takes about 27 minutes at Breckland Road. From there head west on Dereham Rd/A1074 and when you get to the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Barnard Rd. Turn right and after about 10 metres you’ll find your destination on the left.

The venue has a walk score of 67/100. It means some of your errands such as grabbing a quick snack might be possible. But, if you’re planning on shopping, you will have to jump into a car.
Accommodation
If you opt to stay over for the course, the Best Western Brook prices don’t come cheap. The hotel’s location in the Bowthorpe Employment Area means it’s not the best value option. The Best Western Brook Hotel is a 3-star hotel with a restaurant, bar and free parking.
Alternative cheaper options are available east and south of the venue. The Travelodge and Holiday Express Inn Norwich are excellent value options. For more details concerning accommodation check out hotel deals here.
Food
While you can grab lunch at the venue, you can find some inexpensive places to eat nearby. However, you’ll need a car for the various eateries.
South of the venue there is Roy’s Café where you can get Toasted Teacake and Breakfast Bap for breakfast. Or if you wish to finish your dinner in style, go for the Homemade Sweet Pies and Ice Cream for dessert. Further southeast of the venue, you’ll come across Eaton Park Café where you can sample Spiced Baked Beans, Mushroom, Spinach and Egg Quiche, and Beetroot Hummus and Feta.
A 6-minute drive east of Best Western Brook Hotel leads to the Bramleys Cafe and Cakery, a one-stop place for those with a sweet tooth. Try their Carrot Cake, Cream Tea, Lemon and Raspberry Layer Cake and Snickers Brownie. A number of notable cafes you’ll find along the way include Mitre Coffee House, That House and Cafe On The Corner.
