How to obtain your SIA Licence

You have passed all of your qualifications and training. It is now time to apply for your licence. You are almost ready to start working in the security industry!

The first thing you need to do is get your hands on an application pack. There are two ways to go about doing this. You can call the SIA at 0844 892 1025 and request an application pack be sent to you. You can also fill out your application online by following this link: SIA Online Licence Application.

Filling out your application online is easier, but you will still be required to visit a local UK post office where you will need to provide other documents, pay the application fee, have your picture taken and sign all the relevant documents.

What Documents Will You Need to Supply With Your Application?

You will need to prove your identity before your SIA licence will be granted. You will also need to prove your address as well as your date of birth. The SIA will tell you which documents you need to provide.

There are a few stipulations or requirements for these documents. You have to send originals. Photocopies are not allowed. Your original documents will be returned to you by post once they have been checked, scanned and verified. The SIA suggests not sending any documents that you will need in the near or immediate future. It can take up to three weeks to verify all of the information.

One of the documents should show your current address and one should also show your date of birth. Documents must also be provided in English. If your documents are not in English, then you have to provide a copy of the original document and a copy from an approved translator.

Take Your Time Filling Out the Application
